Ypsi-Arbor Baby Shower

This weekend was Justin's one of two baby showers. This shower was hosted by Grandma Kapla and adopted auntie Erin Ferris. It was held at the EMU Lake House in University Park and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Sunny, 70 degree weather and a lot of fun with friends and family. We would like to thank everyone for all of their wonderful gifts; we are sure Justin will love them (and of course mom and dad do too). We had great food and played some awesome games. One favorite was the "baby relay race". Three teams were chosen by the mom to be (Team #1 Tracy, Liz and Teresa, Team #2 Grandma Hawes, Grandma Kapla and Adopted Grandma Tanguay & finally, Team #3 The Daddy to be, Mike and Trav) Each team has to undress a baby, change the diaper, redress the baby, feed it and finally swaddle it! It was a tough race (actually, there was no contest), but Team #1 won! :) Fun was had by all!

The food was amazing and made by Grandma Kapla. Erin and our friend Marti made some tasty desserts too!

At the end of the shower daddy had take mommy to the hospital because she was in a lot of pain. After several hours and tests in the hospital it turns out mommy was dehydrated, having pre-term contractions and had a pulled muscle in her upper abdomen. Mommy had been over doing it a little bit so it was decided she had to relax and slow down a bit!

This little incident couldn't stop the amazing day though. After being released from the hospital mom and dad returned home to spend time with friends and family to watch the Redwings stomp on the Penguins in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Justin must have been rooting for the wings because he was kicking the entire game!

Once again, thank for you a wonderful time and baby shower. We hope those who attended had a great time! We love you all!

1st Mother's Day..Kind of....

Well, this past weekend was a wonderful weekend in that I celebrated Mother's Day. I'm not quite a mom, but in many ways I am. I would like to thank everyone for the the cards they sent and the well wishes I received. It was all very nice! My mom is here in Ann Arbor so we went for pedicures and the boys took us out for dinner at BWW. I received some wonderful gifts from Steven, Baby Justin and my other kids (Libby, Ashes & Scout). I got a very cute maternity tank that says "Kicking 24/7", some really nice pregnancy lotion (which is French by the way, ooolala) and some of my favorite coconut lime body spray. Steven gave me an amazing massage too which was magical and I really needed it (Justin, your daddy is so sweet!). I also made a really big breakfast for everyone to help celebrate. Overall, it was a great weekend and I had a great time. Thank you for making my first sort of Mother's Day so memorable!

26 Weeks out of 37 Weeks & Counting

I have about 11 more weeks before B-day and I am really starting to get anxious, annoyed and frustrated. I am also excited, happy and love my baby. Let me explain....

Anxious- To start child birth classes, be a mommy and get my body back!
Annoyed- People have no tact, do not think before they speak and can be very crude. I may be pregnant, but I am sensitive and have feelings just as much as anyone else. Like I don't know I'm huge already, sheesh! (An extra thanks to the gas station attendant who thought I was due anyday now!)
Frustrated-I can't keep up with my once daily routine. I'm winded walking up the stairs. I can't see my feet and I have the darndest time putting my shoes on and shaving my legs. Stretch marks are so hot by the way (sarcasm). Pregnancy brain has caused me to miss one of my bestest buds bridal shower too. Thank heavens she's amazingly understanding, love you Liz!

Excited-Despite all the negative this is all worth it to see my baby boy. His room is coming together. He has a large family and extended family who have nothing but love to give and I would take a full body of stretch marks, gain a million pounds and never shave my legs just to have him in my life. Granted I will work my hardest to to rid of the stretch marks, vow to lose the weight and I WILL shave my legs again once he's born! But for now, I can take one for the team because he is so worth it. I see my friend Erin with her little guy and I can't wait to experience everything she is!

Happy-To become a mommy!

Love my Baby-There's a lot of love and he's still baking in the oven! Can't wait to see how much there is when the timer goes off and he's done!

Thanks for letting me vent. It's been a rough few days and sometimes it's just nice to vent out loud and not necessarily to one person. Thanks for all of your continued love and support!
