Justin's New Set of Wheels

Well, there is no doubt Justin is pretty spoiled. The spoiling has continued with Grandpa Kapla wanting to buy him his first car....Grandpa purchased a cherry red, 2009 Mustang GT with leather interior and racing stripes! Did I mention it has a sweet sound system? Check it out! We'll be posting a video in a future blog for all you car enthusiasts!

Here's one of grandpa showing Justin the rules of the road.

And here is one of our ladies man....... He's going to be a heartbreaker!

A little behind on the times....

You may have noticed we haven't blogged since January 3rd! Holy Wah! I know....we are a little behind on the times, but here we are jumping back on the blogging bandwagon!

During the month of January we've mostly dealt with teething issues. Poor little buddy has been pretty miserable. Grandpa had an interesting yet great idea....Justin wasn't wanting to use his teethers or anything so we gave him a big, cold carrot! Yes, a carrot! It sure did the trick. He naws on that thing to his hearts content. We also discovered he likes having juice with ice in his bottle and chewing on the nipple. We recently bought him a semi-big boy cup. The handles can be taken off the cup and be put around a bottle. As you can see he's trying to learn some coordination and hold his bottle by the handles....

Justin has some favorite activities and tv shows he would like to share with you...
Activities include, jumping in his jumparoo, dancing, going for horsey rides/riding a bull, standing, petting Scout, reading and he loves bathtime! He's also trying to crawl, which is frustrating, but once he gets the hang of it, we are pretty sure he'll like it more.

TV Shows include Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (doing the HOT DOG dance!), Handy Manny, hockey, baseball , and DragonTales.

This past weekend mommy and daddy had orginally planned to take Jusin to Tigersfest 2009, but it was waaaaaay too cold for baby Justin, so mommy and daddy went and took pictures for him, even getting to meet pitcher Armando Galaraga. Auntie Teresa came to visit from Kalamazoo and babysat Justin while we were gone! They had a great time!

Well, we promise to blog more from this point on. Stay tuned and enjoy the pictures and video of grandma and Justin dancing!

5 month bath pictures

Sorry these are a little late, posts are a little delayed due to the holidays. Justin turned 5 months old on December 28th, but these were taken a few days ago upon our return. Our little boy sure is growing into a big boy quickly these days. He's already started to stand for a very short period of time with some help and of course the poor little guy has been teething which is quite painful for him...And for all of us to see him so miserable at times. Oh Justin wants to put in writing for the record that Sidney Crosby SUCKS!!

I love this one. He's giving his little tub turtle some love.

Happy little guy!

Out with the Old, In with the New! Happy New Year, 2009!

2008 has come and gone and we just got done looking over the Baby Hawes blog from the past year reminissing the year in review....We've experienced a lot of new and exciting changes this year. Here are some of the highlights! A new house....welcoming grammy and grampy Kapla to the house, many trips to Fremont, Kalamazoo, & Grand Rapids....Liz & Trav's wedding in Marquette, the birth of little James to Mike & Tracy, and of course last but not least, welcoming Justin Alexander Hawes to this world. I am sure we are forgetting many things, but as you can see we are truly blessed to have such a wonderful family and extended family of friends. We look forward to what 2009 has to offer and what excitement is to be expected!

Of course Justin couldn't stay awake until midnight, but we welcomed the year in at home, very low-key and relaxing. New Year's Day had the highlight of the Winter Classic hockey game, Detroit Redwings versus the Chicago Blackhawks. Of course the Wings won! We had quite the spread of snacks and enjoyed a great game! Please excuse the date on the photos, they are obviously incorrect...we'll have to fix that....

Father-Son bonding ;)

Such a handsome little man!

Christmas 2008 (Justin's First Christmas!)

We have much to cover regarding all the holiday fun and traveling that occured as well as the traveling of the stomach flu provided by mommy.....It was the gift that kept on giving this year hehe.....

Christmas #1 was spent here in Ann Arbor with mommy, daddy, and grammy & grampy Kapla. Justin loved helping decorate, bake and wrap presents (see past posts.) It was really cute to see him "open" his presents. And even though he pretty much has no idea what was going on we think he knows that Christmas involves pretty, flashing colors and shiny paper and bows. Not to mention he seemed more interested in trying to eat the wrapping paper then the gifts haha. We got an awesome video camera for Xmas from grammy and grampy Kapla so look for videos I will be sending to you all from youtube!

We then ventured to Kalamazoo in a snow storm to spend the weekend with grammy Hawes and the Tokarski side of the family. This was a lot of fun and was exciting because he got to meet some family members he hadn't met before. (Aunt Gail, Uncle John, Cousin Jonathon & his wife Erin, Uncle Stanley, Aunt Sandy, Cousin AJ & Megan) We were sorry we didn't get to see Cousin Amanda and her boyfriend Justin, but they live in Hawaii (bet that's rough lol) Everyone was eager for Justin's arrival that was for sure!

Mommy all bundled up and sharing a snack with Justin.

After Kalamazoo mommy came down with the stomach flu and had it for about 4 days which made life pretty miserable. BUT, everyone was dedicated to Justin having an amazing first Christmas so we ventured onto Fremont and Grand Rapids despite this (again in a snow storm!)to see Grammy & Grampy Hawes, Great Granny Tokarski, Uncle Brian, Uncle Shane & Aunt Melissa and ect. We had a great time there relaxing and even went to Grand Rapids for a Griffins Hockey Game. Needless to say everyone mommy came into contact with ended up getting the flu.....It made for an interesting holiday, but we proudly wear our "I survived X-Mas 2008" badges. We are looking forward to next Christmas when Justin will come to learn and understand Christmas a little bit more!
