Potty Post

Hey everyone! So, Justin's been showing a lot of interest in the potty these days and where he may not be 100% ready to start potty training we didn't think it would hurt to encourage him and help teach him the basics. We'll see what happens and maybe we'll start training him; no pressure on him at all though. My friend Erin found an amazing potty program that trains your child in a weekend. It worked for her so I am looking forward to taking a peek at it for when he is ready to go. I'm also reading Potty Training Sucks-What to do when diapers make you miserable?!, which is a hilarious book from the parenting "Sucks" series. It's really funny and really enlightening. Here are few picks of Justin checking out his potty!

May 2010

Well, the month of May seemed to fly on by so fast that I never seemed to have time to upload the pictures from the camera. Finally! Here are some of the pictures-a montage to the month of May 2010. Enjoy! Also stay tuned for potty pictures!

Nana and Papa Kapla bought Justin a little lawn mower. Justin loves to help papa cut grass!

We went to the Detroit Zoo and this was the first time we've been to the zoo since Justin's 1st birthday. This time being a little older made a lot of difference! He LOVED seeing all the animals and riding the choo-choo. He had a constant smile and expressed lots of ohhs and ahhhs and babble! Enjoy some of the pics below...

We saw TIGERS! Justin's favorite! Nearby the exhibit they had this cute statue and he decided to give kitty a kiss. What a sweetheart!

We went and visited Great Grandma "Rene" in Three Rivers. We love her!

Here is a collection of photos and a summary of what Justin has been up to lately...I know this is kind of cheating, but what can we say....he's almost 2 and he's begun his terrible-two's already therefore little man takes most of our time and sadly this means we've been slacking in the blogging department! Please enjoy though!

At school the color of the week was black and the animal of the week was the worm. Mommy made a special treat from Justin's class, the oldie but goodie treat of worms and dirt!

We gave Justin a taste test beforehand....

And the verdict was...AMAZING!

"Mommy, do I really have to share this with the other kids?!"

Here's a cute one of daddy getting down to Justin's level. They were playing trucks.

Justin has discovered his tongue and it's constantly hanging out of this mouth!

Justin is becoming very independent and really does not like any help at meal time. Good for him...messy for us, but he is getting better and better and as you can see here he's doing a wonderful job this particular morning with his Fruit Loops. It's really cute....he has to concentrate to hard to keep it on the spoon haha.

Justin and Scouty-dog. She is so good with him. :)

Cheering on the Red Wings! We've taught him to put his arms up in the air and say GOOOOOOOAL!
He is getting to be such a big boy and doing better with his talking. He is learning new words and we are practicing with him on the pronounciation, but for now he's doing great. Juice is "ooce", Please is "prriss", What's this? "this", Book is "ook"...those are just a few, but he clearly can say mama, dada, nana, papa, hi, bye.........Nice segue...BYE! ;)

Easter 2010-Hippity Hoppity Good Times

Happy Easter everyone! We stuck close to home this year, and had a wonderful time! We did all of the usual Easterish activities: dyed easter eggs, ate a big yummy meal, went to church, searched for easter gifts/baskets, played outside; it was a low key yet fun filled day. And all of that was great, but the thing that made our day the most was seeing Justin smile in amazement and happiness....Little guy is upstairs completely zonked out from all the fun we had. Enjoy some of the hightlights from our day....

20 month bath photos

Sorry for the delay; we all had the flu and photos during that time would not have been cute and fun! I can't believe how big he is getting; where is the time going?!

Shamrocks & Shenenigans 5K Race

This past Sunday, Justin, mommy and daddy participated in the 5K race benefiting UM Mott's Children's hospital. We decked ourselves out in active wear and Irish novelties and made our way through the route. Justin was a little uncooperative so mommy had to disqualify herself a little more than half way through the race to tend to Justin's needs, but daddy continued on and finished for the fam. We caught up with daddy at the very end and about a half a block from the finish daddy grabbed Justin and ran through the finish line with him....(and the crowd went wild arggggggg!) Well, not so much, but we were really proud of daddy! We've decided to try training seriously to participate in another 5k in May; we'll see how that goes. After the race we enjoyed the festivities and the photos speak for themselves. OH! And Justin is going to be in the Ann Arbor News..we'll post that photo as soon as we recieve it! I knew he was going to be famous..now the Ann Arbor News, in the future ESPN!
