Doctor Updates and a Visit From Grandma and Grandpa Hawes
Test Results:
Everything is normal (no Down's Syndrome or Chromosome defects) and Baby Hawes is healthy...that was the longest 7 days of our lives waiting for those results! Also, today was really cool-we were able to hear Baby Hawe's heart beat! And what a fast and cute little heart beat it was let me tell you! Our next doctor's appointment is March 18th for another check-up so as always, we will keep you posted on progress. Oh an you will get a kick out of this.....So, here I thought I was feeling the baby move around (butterflies), well it turns out the doctor told me it was gas haha. I should be able to feel movement within the next couple of weeks. How funny is that? Being pregnant you have no shame by the way! :)
Grandma and Grandpa Hawes's Visit:
G&G Hawes came to visit Thursday through the weekend and we had a great time! (even though the Redwings lost). We did go to the Redwings game on Friday and they did lose, but we had a great time at the HockeyTown Cafe and at the game. Our seats were in the nose bleed section, but it was still quite the view. We also bought the baby a Redwings onesie!
We also took G&G Hawes to look at the new house we are moving in to hopefully within the next month or so.
We spent most Saturday shopping and bought the baby some really cute clothes and books! Unfortunately G&G trip was cut short due to a snow storm hitting Grand Rapids. They decided to take off a night earlier and head back to be on the safe side. We were sad to see them go but were happy they made it home safely.
This coming weekend we are having more company-Grandma and Grandpa Kapla! We look forward to the next blog to tell you all about our adventures!

Weekend fun with Aunt Tracy and Uncle Mike!
Baby Hawes was excited to hear that Mike andTracy were coming to visit all of us from Grand Rapids! We hung out, watched movies and ate pizza Friday night and then on Saturday we all went to the mall. While the boys walked around Tracy and Jenni received some much needed pampering and got pedicures! We all then went to the UM Baskeball game where UM beat Penn St. From there we went for dinner at Conor O'Neill's and played some pool at the Monkey Bar. (please not these places were not smokey and of course Jenni didn't drink!) :) Before Mike and Tracy left on Sunday we went to Moe's Southwest Grill for lunch, which Baby Hawes definately enjoyed! Sunday afternoon we looked at a house and we are crossing our fingers that the offer goes through! If so we could be moving into a house at the end of March! This excites Jenni because she can start working on the nursery! We'll keep you posted on the house!

Ultrasound 2-Ultrascreen Testing
Today we had our first appointment with Dr. David Bryant. Dr. Bryant is a Fetal Imaging Specialist and today he ran some standard testing on Jenni & Baby Hawes (Chromosomal testing and also testing for Down's Syndrome percentages). Please do not worry- these are standard tests and only 2 % of patients end up having any problems. They took some blood from Jenni and then we got to see another ultrasound of Baby Hawes! It was just as exciting as the first time to see the baby's heart beating! Baby Hawes is a very relaxed and chilled baby and only flutters around from time to time. Our friend Erin calls them butterflies and I think that is a great way to describe it (it feels like a butterfly has been let loose in your belly.) We will get our results within the next 7-10 days and of course we will be letting you know how the results turn out. We have another visit with Dr. Archer in a few weeks but in the meantime please enjoy the newest pictures of our special little....guy or maybe girl!? (Notice we've marked out the anatomy to help you see Baby Hawes a little better!) Oh and we think Baby Hawes may have Jenni's nose! What do you think?!

Events of Week 12
This past week was quite busy for Baby Hawes. Baby Hawes had their first time traveling in an airplane to Minneapolis for a Red Cross Conference. Traveling was quite interesting, but for the most part people were very helpful switching seats to make us more comfortable and we even met some wonderful people who shared their own baby stories. It was 35 degrees below zero in Minneapolis, but being a super yooper and northern WI baby the weather was quite bareable. We sure missed daddy while we were gone and got him a special present from the Build a Bear store at the Rainforest Cafe which will more than likely end up in Baby Hawes's nursery.
When we got back Wednesday night we had to head to work first thing Thursday for a big blood drive at the Burn's Park elementary school where all my students (4th and 5th graders) are in the midst of compiling a list of names they think we should name Baby Hawes. Last time I heard one of the kids saying they loved the name Elvis....I'm a little scared...Bless their hearts!
Saturday, we went house hunting and then we all went to the UM Red Cross Club Red Ribbon Advocacy Event promoting HIV/AIDS awareness. The event was a great success and we had a great time (we even won some silent auction items).
Finally, it is Sunday and well mommy is boycotting the Superbowl and only watching for the commercials. (She's still a little bitter about the Packer/Giants game.) It was a lonnnnnnnnng week and we really haven't had much of a chance to rest. Hopefully, this week will be a little quiter and we can catch up on some much needed sleep. This week will be week 13 and we'll be jumping into the 2nd trimester! We're very excited!
Stay tuned for more information!
