Happy Valentine's Day

Since Valentine's Day was on a Sunday we decided to celebrate on Saturday; we also celebrated the holiday family style. Justin joined us for dinner, as well as Nana and Papa Kapla (it was their anniversary this weekend). We are always looking to try something new when it comes to the local restaurants, so we traveled over to Saline, as we've heard a lot of great things about Mac's Acadian Seafood. It definately lived up to our expectations and we enjoyed our fine dining experience with good conversation and good company, not to mention some great wine! (Ginger ale for Justin of course.) Justin had an amazing time and was all smile while he enjoyed his chicken fingers and veggies, but we think he mostly enjoyed sampling everyone's desserts (chocolate mousse and chocolate brownie sundae). We loved seeing him so happy and having so much fun, even though he was all jacked up on sugar all night, but it was worth it!
Justin was very creative and sweet with gifts this year. He helped send Daddy balloons and an edible arrangement to work and helped make Mommy a very special and creative picture frame. Daddy had Justin hold on to different colored foam blocks with numbers on them. The different numbers represented Mommy and Daddy's wedding date. Justin would like to thank his grandparents and great-grandparents for all the Valentine's Day love, cards and special treats. We all had a great day! Please enjoy some of the pictures from our special day!

18 month bath pictures

Jungle Java Playdate

Justin and I recently joined a mommy group (Washtenaw County Mom's Group) and we had our first outing last weekend at Jungle Java. Here's Justin having a good time...and this is the first time he ever went down a slide all by himself like a big boy!

Playdate with Baby James

We are soooo behind on blogging! Better late than never though :)
Last month Justin's godparents, Mike & Tracy were in Ypsi-Arbor for a conference (they live in Grand Rapids), so they asked if would watch Justin's lil buddy, James and we happily accepted! So, here are some pictures of the good times we had! It was also really good practice with 2 children, as we are contemplating adding onto the Hawes clan sometime soon!

Can you hear me now? Good.

Justin's new thing is mimicing people, specifically his daddy. Justin has his own toy cell phone and tv remote and as daddy is on the phone or changing the channel there is Justin trying to do the same thing. It's really cute. Here's a video of Justin chatting on the phone, a new hobby....
(And as you can see he was also in desperate need for a haircut...one shaggy lookin lil guy!)
