Father's Day 2010
Last year we went to the Tiger's game for Father's Day and decided to attend once again...starting what we hope is a long standing tradition for years to come. The bad thing about going-the heat! We swear is was 100 degrees out there and we were close, it was 89 degrees and there is no shade stadium seating. Despite this we dressed cool as we could, lathered up on the sunblock and drank a lot of water. The water was much to daddy's dismay as beer would have been the preferred beverage of choice. Thankfully, daddy is very intelligent and sensible knowing beer would dehydrate him even more. ;)
Nana and Papa Kapla joined us for the game and Grammy & Grandpa Hawes were with us in spirit while we cheered on the Tigers. We started the day off by getting to the park and getting a collectible Charlie Brown bobble head. Charlie was decked out in a Tiger's uniform. We had expected this cheapie plastic piece of junk and were pleasantly surprised to receive a heavy duty ceramic-type collectible (which is currently and proudly bobbling away in the curio cabinet). Mama and Justin then went on the baseball ferris wheel. We have to wonder if mama enjoyed it a bit more than Justin haha.
Of course we had our game day ballpark hot dog and enjoyed a great game which we won. Towards the end of the game we decided to finish watching it from the Tiger's Den which is air conditioned. We were worried about little guy getting too warm. Justin had a great time and by the end of the game tuckered himself out by falling asleep at the table.
Oh, and Justin had a little run-in with Paws, the Tiger's mascot. Seems Justin is all good and excited to view Paws from a far, but when we went to have our picture with him that didn't turn out so well! Note to self...toddlers don't do mascots....Oh well, maybe in a few years! :)
Finally, you'll note daddy's t-shirt....that was his Father's Day gift from Justin. Daddy adored it of course and was so proud to sport it. :)
